This Sunday, this otherwise besuited trainee minitser in the Church of England will be wearing a dress.
As part of the Church's gross mistake in accepting me as a Reader, I will be on placement at some dreadful hotbed of Roma- sorry, a church in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. And I am to be a sub-deacon on Sunday, no less. I think it means handing useful bits and pieces to the man in charge. Anyway, I will be wearing a thing called a tunicle (which, as you all know, is a bit like a dalmatic, but without the spots). Fortunately for the safety of all concerned, I shall not be asked to hurl the incense-thingy about.
