The Amazing Electrical Bathroom

On Tuesday, the Beloved bought a "breadless sandwich". This, apparently, is Pret a Manger's way of selling you a salad without you noticing.

However, this is as nothing compared to the Amazing Electrical Bathroom!

How does one get one of these, I hear you cry?

It works like this - buy a house whose previous owner is quite enthusiastic, but not entirely thorough, with his DIY.

Get him to decide, for no reason whatsoever, to leave an old piece of wiring connecting the upstairs lights circuit with the fuse box, despite him having put new cables at either end (?!). Then get him to install a a rather rubbish piece of wood at the end of the bath so that, after prolonged use of the shower, the water starts seeping into the wall and finds its way to the old cable.

Then touch the piece of wood?

Did you feel that tingle? Did you? Yep - that's 25 volts going through the sotten piece of wood, that is. And those tingles off the radiators and the walls? Isn't it amazing?

Thankfully, this has now been Sorted Out(TM) by a very friendly, and reasonably priced, electrician.

Now all we have to do is worry about the fact that the electricity board didn't properly earth their cabling.....
