(thanks to the Ship of Fools "Today in HIstory" slot for that one). Apparently he's one of the thieves crucified next to Jesus - and ist he patron saint of thieves, though whether you seek his patronage whilst stealing things or whilst reforming yourself in prison is unclear.
Also the Annunciation, where Gabriel tells Mary, "You're pregnant" and Mary says, "Oh, sh*t." Well, it does in the Good Revised English Living International New Standard version I'm currently compiling.
