Saturday - went to city centre with hope of joining library. Anti-war demo just starting up outside library / city hall.
Because we were loitering about near it, a steward came over and said to my partner (note: NOT directly to me) "I notice that your partner's...erm...." The word is "Blind", dear boy.
Apparently, there'd been some treading going on last week, so they were going to ensure that there was a steward near any blind people. There seemed also to be the suggestion that velcro would be used (don't ask).
Odd and sad how the person assigned to spot the disabled was (a) incapable of using the proper words when he encountered such people, but more worryingly (b) did the old "Does he take sugar?" thing by not talking directly to me.
