I've not been working - no students wanted a lesson today - so I spent a couple of hours tidying up the study, and sorting out the new crafty stuff that I bought at Noz yesterday. Noz is a shop that sells end of line things, end of promotion, damaged goods and other products that are "left over" in some way. You have to have time to look - luckily (?) yesterday I had a student cancel at very short notice, so I can charge her 15€ cancellation fee AND I had time to search Noz for craft stuff. Huzzah! I got two sets of odds and sods for scrapbooking for 1,50€ each - there are ribbons, brads, bows, buttons, braid. Really lovely, colour co-ordinated bits. Plus some card/envelope combos for 1,00€, stick-ons, skeleton leaves and other fab stuff. I was one happy Dormouse.
Then I started on Paul's Box. Danièle has asked me to decorate a box that she can put certain mementoes of Paul in - his watch, and small items like that. She requested something that is natural. I found a sheet of leaves in an art shop, so I've cut out some of them and stuck them on. I'm pretty pleased with it so far: the backing paper has gone a little wrinkly, but I think it's acceptable. I want to put some quotations inside the lid: I plan on using the one from the card that was given to Erin's (from SoF) family after her sudden death:
Our loved ones
leave behind spaces in the world
that can never be filled.
But they also leave behind
love and light in each one of us:
sparks of joy and hope
that live in our hearts
and give strength to our souls.
I also posted a recipe on my other blog (Fat Dormouse Getting Thinner) for Thai Autumn Soup. It was our lunch time winter warmer. It's cold here - we've had a sprinkling of snow - which reminds me, I'll need to put the cover on the car. We don't have a garage, but have recently bought a complete cover for the car. It saves an awful lot of scraping-ice-from-the-windscreen time in the early mornings.
So, a pleasant day being creative. I'll post photos of the box when I've finished it.
