What a waste..

Is it a waste of a day, if you do something you enjoy, even if it's not terribly productive? I have spent today making some cards (I planned to show them to you, but the camera seems to have gone walkabout.), a quick visit to see friends and surfing sites on t'internet. I'm kind of chained to the pooter at the moment as I'm expecting my brother to Skype me sometime soonish, so I can't troll off to do anything else...not that it would consist of much more than reading!

We had a very quiet Christmas Day - but no less enjoyable for that. I received several books ("Remarkable Creatures" by Tracy Chevalier; "Dissolution" by CJ Sansom; "The Cat Sanctuary" by Patrick Gale; "The Birth of Venus" by Sarah Dunant & "House In the Sunflowers" by Ruth Silvestre) plus 2 CDs - one by Vent du Nord and another of mixed folk music. Mr D also bought me a Slanket, which is very useful, as my study is not the warmest of places. And it means when he's too hot in the evening and turns off the wood burner, I can wrap up warm and be cosy.

short pause for a slightly hysterical Skype conversation with my mum, sister and brother.

So, plans for New Year? None: we are not great celebrators of New Year, preferring a good meal and maybe a film. If we're awake at midnight it's the exception rather than the rule! We have a pintard stuffed with cèpes for dinner though, which should be very enjoyable. Mr D has recently bought the Complete Father Ted DVDs, so there's a good chance we may watch that, or Toy Story 3, or maybe Inception...all new aquisitions which Mr D is itching to watch.

And on New Year's Day we're sharing a turkey with our friends from up t'hill - it's our Christmas present from them to us. C has killed, dressed and stuffed it for us. Then she's coming to eat it too! I'd planned a Mulled Wine and Christmas Cookies afternoon, but that has gone by the wayside. Maybe next year. Or maybe not.

Maybe I'll make some resolutions, but that's unlikely. Just the usual half hearted Try to Lose Weight. I rarely do, as we both like our food too much! And I have an aversion to any sort of exercise, which doesn't help.
