Because I have lessons to teach on Monday morning, and then a 3 1/2 hour gap before my next lesson, I have decided to take the opportunity to explore the area around Clermont Ferrand a little and do some walks. I can't go too far, because of the 4.00 appointment, but it will give me the push I need to do a little more exercise than at present. I did this a bit last year, when lessons finished at mid-day: then I went further afield because I didn't have to be back at a certain time.

So yesterday I climbed the hill above Cébazat It was a walk of about 5 km with a climb of just over 200 metres. I was quite pleased with myself. It took about an hour and a quarter, but (of course!) I forgot to take the camera!!! I will put it in the bag now (well, nearly now) so it's always with me. But the views across the city were great.

These will give you an idea of some of what I could see. (especially the ones from a distance!) I met one person cutting wood and a runner. Otherwise it was me and the birds. Absolutely beautiful. I look forward to next Monday, when I have a plan to go up another lump of hill. I might drive up that one (there's an abandoned hotel/pleasure park at the top) and walk around to Chateaugay - you can probably find that on the map. That goes through some vineyards so it should be nice. I hope the weather will be as kind as it was yesterday!
