Opening Doors

I'm a little bit excited, a little bit nervous, and a little bit apprehensive. Why? Because I've signed up to go to a weekend workshop over near Toulouse called "Opening Doors". I first saw a link to it on Floss's blog and it sounded really interesting - but rather too expensive. But, thanks to a tax rebate (which we probably should be saving for that "rainy day"!), plus the fact that I earned a bit in the UK, and I'm adding my birthday money (counting chickens there!) I have decided to Go For It

The workshop is run by Ange, and it is described thus:

It’s two glorious, colourful days of opening your own, internal doors to a happier, richer, more positive life.

It’s having amazing, useful insights about how YOU tick and learning techniques for getting out of your own way that will stay with you as you skip through life.

t’s about harmony. YOURS ! Giving your life more flow by identifying and unravelling those stuck patterns that limit your personal happiness.

At Opening Doors we have serious fun. That means we make progress, un-slump ourselves and get inspired WHILE we laugh (together), discover (our pirates), play with (s)words, brandish paintbrushes and find strength in the company of like-minded women travelling a similar path.

It sounds something a little outside my comfort zone, but something for Me. It's not that I don't feel happy or blessed - I do. I live in a beautiful old house, in a gorgeous area, I have a lovely Mr D and four troublesome-but-gorgeous cats, I do a job that (most times) I love, and have great friends. But, despite this, from time to tme I feel a bit stuck-in-a-rut so I hope that this might help me to be more positive about stuff.

I have prepared my notebook. I didn't know what sort of stuff we might be producing, so I found a notebook (bought, on discount, at Noz - mais bien sur!!) which I hadn't used, with alternate blank and squared pages...but it wasn't a very attractive cover. So I created a cover with which I am very pleased

I covered the book in green paper, and then neatened the edges with washi tape - just a thin strip as it's quite a strong pattern. The main pictures are photocopied from a craft sheet that I bought to make cards with. They are lovely autumnal images. I cut the big bird from another sheet of craft paper, and used little stickers I bought in Ikea - the dinky owls and leaves - plus a vintage-style label. Then - with much trepidation - I covered the whole lot with sticky backed plastic. It is the best bit of sticky-backed-plastic-covering that I've done in a long time! No wrinkles, no bubbles. I was very pleased!

Well, even if my thoughts, notes, drawings whatever are not very impressive at least there is a lovely notebook to write them in!!

I'm off to Toulouse, by train, on Friday 27th, in the morning: quite a long trip, but with my music player and Kindle I'm sure I'll manage! Then I'm coming back on Monday. The workshop finishes on Sunday at about 5.00 but there's no train that late, so I'm staying an extra night. I'm not sure where yet - either in the gite where the workshop is taking place, or in an Ibis type hotel in Toulouse...It depends which is the cheapest!! I think most people will be from the Toulouse area, but I don't suppose that matters.

I hope I enjoy it!!
