Finding Fun No 4

The observant amongst you will have noticed that there hasn't been a Finding Fun No 3. That was over on Fat Dormouse Getting Thinner with a recipe for apple-and-cranberry rock buns. We were messing about in the kitchen, and I was happy with the resuts. It wasn't exactly fun, but I enjoy cooking, so to produce these little babies was very pleasant.

This week's location for fun is in the wardrobe - as Carolyn explains it's all about dressing up. I wasn't convinced about the idea of trying on clothes and prancing about...I'm feeling too porky for that at the moment.

Thinking about dressing up though, did remind me of the way I used to enjoy drying myself after a bath when I was young - I would use the towels of everybody in the family to "design" outfits. One would become a turban, two smaller ones could be tied at the shoulders to make a tunic, tuck another around my waist and between my legs to give the appearance of trousers...I was a real fashionista in the bathroom! I'd play about like that for about 10 minutes, posing in front of the mirror, using the handheld shower head as a microphone as I "sang" my latest pop hit singles,  until I was dry! I do hope nobody had an infectious skin problem! I would have been responsible for passing it round everybody!!

Today I'm feeling a bit "flat": I don't seem to be able to get motivated to do anything worthwhile...this afternoon I've just faffed about doing little bits but nothing special. I'm selling at a craft fair on Sunday, so I was gathering all my boxes, writing my labels and so on, but I haven't really achieved very much.

I'm quite tired because I didn't get to sleep until late. Why not? Because I was thinking about the fact that (eep) I've been offered a job at a Summer School in the UK. I'm suddenly having doubts about my abilities (yes, I know, MrD, lack of confidence rears its ugly head...) and wondering whether I should accept. But then, I've got three other interviews lined up on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week!! So I shall wait and see what happens. I'm quite keen on the job I've been offered - it's my 2nd choice - but there's one I think I'd like more: younger children and more money. So, I shall hold my horses until I've had all the interviews, and then decide.

So, back to finding fun. I'd planned on making some more cards today, but I couldn't face the ensuing mess, and I really felt uninspired. So with a piece of card in front of me, I just started sketching and came up with this young lady in (perhaps) her first ball gown.

I wasn't trying to do anything special, but I enjoyed using my pens, and then adding water to paint the dress. She has shiny silver swirls on the hem and around the draped neckline. I'm not very good at drawing hands so I hid them! It was a gentle, pleasing distraction...not quite fun, but an activity that filled me with quiet contentment. I think I needed it, and I think I need some fresh air, too, so I'll close my computer down, tidy my desk and go out for a stroll.
