Municipal Creatures. And Quince.

The Municipal Donkey rejected the apple peelings, but fought me for the Braised Quince. I gave her one saying "Now, if you don't like apple peelings you won't like this..." but she proved me wrong by crunching it up and baring her teeth at me as if to say "Give me another, quick, or I'll bite your fingers off!" I ended up giving her all 6 of the Braised Quince which were gobbled up rapidly. I also discovered that donkeys have no notion of what licking-the-juice-off-your-fingers is all about: she tried to bite the ends off instead. Small Baby Municipal Donkey wasn't interested in Quince, as I think s/he is still mostly on milk, but s/he did start to show interest in some of the grassy herby things around the field where they reside.

The Municipal Goats however were very interested in apple peelings. There are two female goats, one male and four or five kids. Plus four Municipal Sheep. The sheep didn't get a look in on the apple peelings as one female goat decided she had Divine Right to all peelings and defended this right most forcefully. I had a pleasant chat with an old guy who came over to see what I was doing, and who informed me that while the Sheep and Goats are indeed Municipal, the Donkey is not. She is Particular (I think that's what he said. I guess it means she belongs to someone as opposed to the community.)

Off to friends for dinner tonight. More fizzies-and-Quince-Syrup (which is, indeed, most delicious.) I'm down to make the Nibbly Bits, so we're having Devils On Horseback (which are, I believe, prunes wrapped in bacon), toasts with duck liver paté and fig preserve, and smoked salmon and cream cheese bits. And a big bag of crisps for the younger element. I suppose I'd better go and start wrapping prunes.

But before I go, thank you for your Hoppy Birdday wishes. Much appreciated! We had a good day and photos will be published soon.
