Betrayal

Sometimes you think you know someone, you trust them.  A problem arises, you deal with it, and believe that they are being straight with you.  No problem.

Then, unbidden, you speak to another person you trust.  They tell you something different.  You realise you were wrong - about one of them, anyway.

You try to give these people the benefit of the doubt, put it down to misunderstanding and poor communication.  It is preferable to acknowledging that a person you like and trust has been less than truthful.  Also, that you still do not know which one it is that has lied!

Somehow, you have to admit that a trusted work colleague, or perhaps two, have lied to you - most probably to cover their own backside.  That stings.  Badly.

I do not trust easily, and I rarely read people wrong.  Which makes this all a heck of a lot worse!

Cos now I do not even trust myself to make wise judgements about others.

Bugger!
