Your WISEdom come!

I have been particularly remiss in the blogging department, partly because the newsworthy stuff is work related and thus off limits and partly because I'm an idiot and have spent the last week editing photos for the kind of shoot I will never do again... however, that's another story.

The non blogging meant that I have had been completely remiss in updating you all as to the arrival of my WISE packages... yes, as suprememe (sic) WISE potentate I was the recipient of not one but two WISE parcels...

Fear not gentle reader that there is any kind of self serving going on... merely the self sacrificing chance of allowing a late participant play when all who were playing had been allocated... (So i not only received 2 gifts but sent two as well...)  In any case, with no further ado I am thrilled to thank Alice and Tractor Girl for my WISE bits and bobs!!!

First is a very useful book for translating english one finds in modern usage these days for those of us who are old skool.

And for your benefit - here are a couple of exceprts

Maybe where you come from - Northern phrase to express disbelief at, or to, rubbish.

Girl 1: I think Shane from 4B fancies me.
Girl 2: Yeah, maybe where you come from.

Er... and skip down the next one if, like, you have an issue with 'language'

**word confusion warning**

shit.

Please note that this popular work changes its meaning when prefixed by 'the'. If, for example, someone tells you that you look 'the shit' with your new trainers on you should thank them.  However, if they just tell you that you look shit with your new trainers on, you should 'hand out some slaps'.

hand out some slaps:
To hit someone. As in:
Any time that chief comes near me I'm gonna hand out some slaps, you know. See also beats, licks, open a can of whoopass, smack down, spark, tumps.

And the list goes on.., thanks Tractor Girl, i took it out with me the other night and my peeps and me cracked up all over it.  It was the shiznit!

Then there was the offering from over Alice's way...  Alice I recognize the Welsh slate, I have/had a coaster from Glyn Ceirog when I was there in 1990!   The Red Dragon is also famous... I should hate to use him and melt the soap!! All of them tucked up in the wee stocking - lovely!  The magnets are on  the fridge and the stocking hangs on the shelf, but tell me about the heart shaped spoon??!  A particularly welsh thing, I'm sure... but it is mysterious to me!!

Thanks for playing girls, and all you others!  Looking forward to doing it again sometime!
