no sooner do I go and write the words "...now I'm slowly stumbling towards a post-M.E. life..." then I go and do something really stupid and cause myself a relapse which has sapped my energies for the last 3 weeks or so. D'Oh! [Note to self: It doesn't matter if the sun is out, do NOT go cycling for 1 1/2 hours!]. Am slowly getting back to "normal" again thanks to some early nights.
Anyway, unlike the last 4 1/2 years this hasn't been stopping me making music, which is a really positive thing. Over the last few months I've been sorting through my "half-finished beats and pieces in various styles folder" on my hard-drive which contains 40 or so tracks of Electronica | Deep House | Electro | Funky Techno | NuJazz | Breakbeat and some ambient film soundtracky things and spending much time polishing, re-writing, noodling, sound-designing, re-noodling, editing, re-polishing and generally getting things far closer to a finished state. It's good to feel the warm tingle of the creative juices flowing once again. [insert deep sigh of satisfaction].
Anyway, if you're into discovering music that's a bit off the beaten path and don't like the idea that you usually only get to hear the things that big record companies are marketing via radio then fear not. You know that great feeling you get when you diswcover some music that you love but nobody else seems to have heard of? Yeah? Me too! here are a couple of good places to hunt and you'll be safe in the knowledge that your money is going straight to the struggling artists who have made you so happy, thus enabling them to keep doing what they do and make you happy some more. Warms the cockles of yer heart, dunnit.
