Links fixed. Archive done. Mowed the lawn. Cleaned the windows. Looking a bit tidier round here now.
Did anyone else read Stephen Fry's comment last week about academics who couldn't figure out which way round to sit on a toilet? Perhaps it was a re-occuring nightmare I'm having. It's just that I really don't think it should take 5 weeks to get a reference from an academic in mid-Wales to Glasgow Uni. Hmmm. Perhaps my expectations are unrealistically high. Talking of which.....
'Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall' is a small, but perfectly formed book by that postmodern Robin Hood Banksy. In it is a photo of Bristol City Council HQ. In front of the council building is a concrete pond with a curved wall at the back of it. So Banksy comes along and, cheeky wag that he is, paints a frogman on the wall with a big plug in his hand and the words '...pulling the plug on Bristol City Council' next to it. Which I thought was highly creative and original. So I was in Bristol the other week and found myself walking past the City Council HQ. So I look for Banksy's work to find that they've sandblasted it off the wall and right above it, suspended from the pillars at the front of the building are two big banners saying 'Bristol City Council - Supporting Art in the Community'!!! Am I missing something here?
