...ends.

Anyone know if Thea Gilmour has an official website? Googled her, but without much success.

What's happening? All my friends are getting married and/or having children. Scary. Congratulations to Jenn (and Haydn).

Sorry Nessa (I think it was Nessa) I don't know of a cheap darkroom in Swansea. But I do know of a profound plaque on the wall of the University of Wales obervatory on the seafront. Now there's a place I have memories of......

Been reading 'The Negative' by Ansel Adams. It's about photography, not permanently pessimistic people! It's very very good. I am now a devotee of 'The zone system', which, admittedly, does sound like a city centre parking scheme but is in fact a way of determining and controlling photographic exposure. Sounds dull. Great results!

I've finally found an 'ickle photo shop in Glasgow that sells bevelled window mounts and archival quality mount board. Hallelujah!!!

I'm all excited 'cos Friday I'm having my first darkroom lesson, hence the reading up on Ansel Adams. Had a relaxed browse through a very big photo book by Josef Koudelka in Borders Books the other day. The books called 'Chaos' and it is absolutely stunning! 100% black & white. The subject matter doesn't seem too interesting, but he manages to find intricate pattens and gorgeous textures in the most unpromising surroundings. The sea wall at Helsinki harbour anyone? The pics are really stunning. £40 though. Ouch! Donations to Block 11, Flat 2/1,...............

Finally finished Milan Kundera's 'The Art of the Novel' and 'Laughable Loves', both extremely good. 'Laughable Loves' is a collection of short stories, 'Edward and God' being the pick of them for me. 'The Art of the Novel' is a collection of surprisingly entertaining essays and conversations. Really thought provoking.

Tonight I will start 'Devil on the Cross' by Ngugi Wa Thiong'o. Apparently it's one of the century's great novels! I've got a feeling it won't be like a Tony Parsons.

A helicopter has just landed in the car park across the road and BBC radio Scotland are playing 'Stand and Deliver' by Adam Ant. Magical!
