...was really not what I was expecting at all. In fact, it wasn't great. There's some laughs in it, but by the end you don't feel anything for any of the characters. Oh well. But the last 3 films I've seen have been 21 Grams, Descongelate and Kitchen Stories, all of which have been extremely good.
I've finally discovered the 'Game of Life'. No, not the 1980's board game, but the John Conway invented computer program. Brian Eno talks a lot about it and I've been intrigued for a few years, but it was only in a seminar yesterday that I actually got to see the thing in the 'flesh'. Cheers Brad. And it totally rocks my world - as Avril would say. There is a smaller Mac OS.X version which isn't half as good which I've downloaded. If anyone knows of a *REALLY* good Mac version I would love to hear about it. If you haven't a clue what I am on about you could google 'Game of life' and 'John Conway', or you could do something useful with your time.
Anyway, Game of Life has inspired or has lots of things in common with lots of music that I'm into, Eno, Steve Reich, Terry Reilly, Cornelius Cardew, Autechre, John Cage, etc, etc. It's all about tiny input - massive output, or elegant ways of doing big things, which is completely the opposite of what normally happens, which is big input - small output, clumsy ways of doing not much at all. I'm fascinated by it.
