...about the "Fruedian Slippers" (see 3 posts down) being the funniest thing I've ever seen. This is absolutely priceless, especially when she says, "I wasn't going to queue, I would have been a [nervous] mess by the time I got to him", addresses the ABofC as "Mr" and then castigates him for not looking her in the eye. Tragi-comedy in full focus and a severe warning to the religious institutions of the importance of teaching.

My own experience was far more positive. It was a cold evening in a small university in the middle of Wales in the winter of 1999 and the then Archbishop of Wales was giving a talk in the chapel, so I went along. He spoke about homo-eucharisticus; pretty amazing I still remember eight years later, though I'm sure that's not much to do with the efficacy of my memory. What most stood out for me was his capacity for concentrated listening to those who asked questions, not just to their words but to them as people, to the emotions behind the words, and I was impressed by this. Anyway, happy/sad viewing...
