...competence, I really do. It is such a great thing to watch someone who is really good at doing their thing and it's such a healthy and life-giving thing to know that you are competent, even excellent at something.
Maybe I'm just becoming more critical and jaded with age but I'm finding that it is increasingly rare to stumble across plain and simple competence, no song and dance or attention seeking, just the pure capacity for proficiency.
For example, yesterday I was surfing for careers info and came across this monstrosity of sloppy thinking courtesy of Yahoo! Jobs:
Keep the recruiter in mind at all times when compiling a CV for a specific post. The relevance and impact of this document will decide whether you get called for interview or not so make it clear that you are the solution to their problem, the square peg for their round hole.
"...make it clear that you are the...square peg for their round hole."???
It sounds like Yahoo! already have a few square pegs in their round holes.
