A few weeks ago I really really wanted to get a ticket to see Laurie Anderson ( http://www.laurieanderson.com/ ) in Glasgow. Too far away. Darn. So yesterday I'm reading a review of a modern opera based on the life of Hildegaard of Bingen and notice that there's a performance at the Salibury Festival. So I google and find it. Surfing around the site I'm delighted to find Ms Anderson doing a show at said festival. She doesn't do too many UK shows so this is a rare opportunity and I'm glad to say I got on the phone quick enough to pay the door tax. She's a unique artist is Laurie Anderson and it's through her work more than anyone else's that taught me that music can be a potent social/political/artistic/personal force. Can't wait.
