More Greenbelting.

So, I spent Sunday recovering from the Saturday at Greenbelt, then went back on the Monday evening to catch Giles Peterson. Now, I've always been a bit suspicious of "superstar DJ's", remember, a DJ is only someone who plays other peoples records (I know some manage to push the boundaries using things like Ableton's Live software, but most don't.) Giles Peterson just relies on the vinyl, but his quality taste and...restraint, yes that's the word, is just streets ahead of the masses. And his philosophy of "every style for every floor" is spot on. His MC can even sing! In tune!!! What really topped it for me was him playing The Specials 'A Message to You'. Top stuff.

The closing band of the night Jazz Jamaica were absolutely awesome. An 11-piece jazz/reggae band doing a whole set of Motown covers, with superb musicianship, style, taste, and restraint. Y'know how occasionally you hear a band who manage to unlock something deep inside you which is inaccessible by any other means, Jazz Jamaica have that ability. I seriously recommend you catch them live if you can.
