Well, I'm still here, thank you for messages and calls, even and sometimes specially for those I wasn't actually in or awake to pick up. Thank you thank you thank you!

Guy's still on the ward voluntarily but that's only a way of saying that he can go out only accompanied. Mind you yesterday he won't go out for a walk with me because, in his words: "I might run off". His relative calm was drug induced and though it's good for them while he's in hospital their non-prescribable stuff will be of no use to me when he comes out. Not quite sure whether there's anything I can do about that but I'll certainly ask the doc as soon as I can.

I went off to one of my best mates' last night and we had a night in doing nothing, which we decided was going to involve scoffin' pizza and ice cream and watchin the Da Vinci Code. I thoroughly enjoyed the film. My kind of story through and through, with all the mystery and adventure I could ask for. Say nothing about the theology (or not) of it all. I ignored that :)

Today we did nothing at all until noon then drove back to Walsall and meandered to the shops. A brief stop at the NHS drop-in centre confirmed that the rashes on my neck are nothing contagious or life-threatening but rather a form of stress related eczema. Nice! I think I prefer ring-worm or shingles. At least that would have been exciting and may have warranted heavy duty meds rather than: don't scratch it, keep it clean but avoid using soap on it (lol) and, oh!! you can always see your doctor and get steroid creme prescribed... Fab!! Like that'll do much good.

Now, the house is state, it's beyond official, it's dire. I have no desire to do anything about it and so until then I suppose it'll wait.
The doorbell just went and I've done some excercise: run down stairs, avoid a double mattress, a clothes rack, my bike (which is currently parked against the radiator, poor thing) and got to the door to find smartly dressed reps of the Church of the Latter day saints. I've never quite fixed in my mind the exact phrase of their long long name. They were polite of course and I suppose they're used to being told no in most unpolite manner so I was kind and said I wasn't and wouldn't be interested. Hmmm.

Oh, here's a good piece of news :)
As of yesterday morning I am the proud parent of 2 small aliens. They're white and cute and came with their very own booming spaceship. A 'folly' of course, but hey, the tax-man gave me some pennies for going to the trouble of doing my tax-returns so I allocated some of it as I saw fit. Aliens! They will find a home on my desk when I finally tidy the sadly overloaded item. Well, not overloaded, since none of it's fine blanket is actually very deep, but it's an edge to edge cover nonetheless. If I wanted an excuse I'd say it keeps the dust off.

If any of you fancy housesitting for a few days, I'm going to France for my nephew's 3rd birthday.

I hope those doctors are wise... I really do. The nurses are friendly and seem nice. That's a start.

Time to tidy this place at least a little.
