I don't know about you, but I've been blown away by this movement that has snowballed so rapidly in the last few weeks. I have been equally blown away by the negative comments. I know that it is easy to get caught up on a bandwagon and be all sentimental about things, but I cannot believe the numerous people I have talked to in recent days who want to harp on about corrupt governments, etc, etc. Even AOL has a countdown at the minute to show how many children have died just in the time that you have been logged on. Is there really anything else to say, but that we must feed these people and give them the medicine, etc. they need first. Surely corruption can be dealt with once people stop dying? Miss Dynamite summed it up well when she said that if 30,000 children in the West died in one day then by that very evening we would have done something about it. Interestingly noone mentioned the money we spend on weapons and feeding ourselves on obesity causing junk food. I have statistics that say that in 1997 we spent more than twice on ice cream in Europe what is needed to provide clean water for the world. Surely, when faced with figures like that it is no less than obscene to suggest that we should do nothing in case of corrupt governments?
