What makes me really mad is the way that those who are supposed to protect us make us the criminals and use that as an excuse for thuggery. Someone I know well travelled to Edinburgh today to place a photo for us with the others in Princes Street and to show their support for the campaign. What he witnessed and has on camera is a young girl marching with the Christian Student Movement walk, alone, towards a group of police, probably just to ask a question as they penned the protesters into smaller and smaller gaps. The next thing she was being beaten brutally with a police baton. Police were baiting protesters and the dogs were hyped up ready for blood. And we're supposed to respect the authority of the police? Strangely the left those in dog collars alone (those of the clergy variety, that is). I guess beating a random assortment of vicars with batons doesn't make for positive press coverage.
