are a strange phenomenon. I have been having this debate with my other half. As a teacher, I survive from holiday to holiday, relieved for a let up in the constant busyness. And in the hols I try to avoid, at least for most of it, doing anything work related, bar exam results days and some prep at the end. And, best of all, nobody phones me up asking me to do work things (well, my Head of Dept & I chat over the exam results).
Hubby, on the other hand, is clergy. This seems to put him in a different category. All sorts of people see his holiday as good time to catch him, and I don't mean friends I mean work people. From the parish office ringing about a baptism in a month's time, to other people ringing at 9.30 in the morning. NINE THIRTY. We're on holiday and went to bed at 3am. Who functions at 9.30 when on holiday? Sometimes I feel like answering the phone with, 'I don't care who you are, or who's died, but GO AWAY'. Perhaps I missed vicars' wife lesson 2 - how to be polite and caring to parishioners?!
