Tony

Am I the only person in the country who still likes Tony Blair and thinks he's done a pretty good job? I know that some of his decisions haven't been fantastic, the war in Iraq, etc. but how can anyone who is responsible for running the country get it right and keep everybody happy all the time?

I often tell my students (who certainly aren't old enough to remember!) that they should look at what Britain was like 10 years ago when Labour came to power. As a teacher I have seen my wage rise from a joke to something liveable. Money has been invested in all sorts of places that were sadly lacking. I have also been heard to say repeatedly of late, "God help us if the Tories get back in".

What is scandalous is that the fools within the party have been helping the job along - don't we (the British public) hate the public backstabbing? Whether that makes the majority run to the ballot box or decide not to leave their house on election day is another matter.

On a less serious note, the good Revd has just pointed out that perhaps Tony Blair could do voiceovers for Nicky Gumbel when he's not well! And Nicky Gumbel could cover Tony's radio interviews when he's too busy!

I did love Tony's line in his interview on Sunday AM with the other big-eared bloke. He asked him if he would be at the Labour Party Conference next year. Tony replied that he'd be sitting with the delegates accusing the leadership of selling out and needed a more socialist agenda!!

Gawd bless ya Tone!
