A low number of sopranos today meant we were asked to sing Byrd's 'Ave Verum Corpus' very quietly, to avoid drowning them. It seemed to work well, although our timing was a little ragged. I always need a good swig of coffee after singing that anthem, as the alto line is so low.
We are going to miss one of our young sopranos, now attending college some 50 miles away, not just for her singing but because she was so good at organising and caring for the trebles and also because she wrote the choir page for the magazine each month. Anyone know if we can hire sopranos by mail order? We are going to need reinforcements.
