Unusually, we were given the chance of a lie-in and leisurely breakfast, as a visiting church band were leading the morning service today. I now understand why most people don't bother to attend church these days - it's nothing to do with theology, old-fashioned music or lack of belief, it's to do with the lure of remaining in a warm and cosy bed....
Refreshed from the gentle start, I thoroughly enjoyed Evensong, with Sweeney responses, Mag. and Nunc. to Anglican chant, and Handel's 'And the Glory of the Lord' sung brightly, with enthusiasm. The sun came out and so did a box of chocolates given to us by two junior choristers, moving to another part of the country. What's not to like?
