To Trinity and Beyond

Two long sermons jump-started the Trinity marathon, surrounded by the Thorne Mass and 'Cantate Domino' (Pitoni) and 'Hymn to the Trinity' (Tchaikovsky). The soprano numbers were low, but fortunately the louder ones were in attendance and a miniscule choir of only seven sang Evensong. We still managed four parts, though, and are now dubbed 'the Magnificent Seven', or maybe 'the Magnificat Seven'.

Several members of the congregation went to see the 'Amazing Grace' film during the week, so the choir was asked to sing 'Amazing Grace' as a post-communion hymn. This worked well, as the anthem was the excessively short 'O most merciful' (Wood). We also had a chance to let our hair down in at Evensong, singing Balfour Gardiner's 'Evening Hymn' - possibly the most bohemian, luscious anthem ever to issue forth from our lips.
