Splendid Suppers and Crappy Choruses

Last Friday was the Choir and Bellringers' Dinner, one of the most important events of the Choir year. We were served a delicious three-course meal by the vicar and churchwardens (now you know why we have to be careful not to piss them off too much in the preceding months) and then settled back, with comfortably full stomachs, to listen to the evening's entertainment. This year it was the turn of the Staff to entertain, although most of them appeared to have other engagements (or a severe attack of shyness), so it was left to the St. Eustachius Singers to regale us with a set of madrigals (or mad wriggles as they are sometimes known), plus an incredibly cheesy rendition of all the worst choruses the priest-in-charge could lay his hands on. They were so excruciatingly awful, we will never complain about 'Shine Jesus Shine' again! Do not, I repeat do not, send him the link to the Ship of Fools 'Crappy choruses and horrible hymns' thread, as we don't want to give him any more ammunition! As it is the choir's turn to entertain next year, we have a whole year in which to work out how to get our own back.
