Just back from a wonderful week of music in Rochester. Evensong each day, plus Sunday services, were sung with great commitment and energy by the RSCM Girls' Summer Course. Highlights of the week included the Sumsion responses, Gibbons' Second Service, Greig's 'Ave Maris Stella', Stanford's 'Te Deum' and 'Jubilate' in Bb and Parry's 'My Soul' and 'I was glad'. I had plenty of stamina left, after exploring castles and other old buildings in the area each day, to sit and let the inspiring music wash over me, but was glad I didn't have to rehearse and sing this punishing schedule. I'm such a lazy Sundays-only Chorister.
