Branching out

Our esteemed Director of Music revealed another facet to his endless talent today, when he appeared dressed as a tree. It was to assist in the telling of the parable of the mustard seed; many jokes about his 'sturdy girth' and 'solid trunk' ensued. As several of our choir had a better offer of singing at Truro Cathedral today, it was decided to sing something simple - Bach's 'Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring'. We sounded confident, if a trifle flat at times.

At the evensong rehearsal, Tallis' 'If ye love me' was also well known, but for some reason the timing was all over the place. I think our choir master, no longer dressed as a tree, seemed somehow less interesting to watch. However, we frightened ourselves into watching like hawks during the actual service and sang the anthem better than ever.
