Back to church with a Bang

A complete break from church does everyone good. It was followed by two extremely uplifting visits to other places - firstly, the celebration of our former vicar's 40 years of being priest. The Eucharist was held in a town church about 30 miles away, traditionally celebrated with full vestments and incense, with many family and friends in attendance. There was a strong atmosphere that the Church of England is very much not on its last legs and still has much to celebrate and encourage people to join together.

Secondly, the Friends of Exeter Cathedral had their gathering, with Eucharist and Evensong (boy and girl choristers), organ recital, talks and tours, and tea in the Bishop's Palace gardens. Again there was much encouragement, with success stories of money raised, projects undertaken and the whole day spent in the company of cathedral staff, organists, Dean and Bishop. It is good to know that our collective efforts are appreciated so much.
