For all the Saints

All Saints' Day coincided with the departure of our curate to pastures new. So we sent him on his way with 'The Gaelic Blessing' (Rutter) and a rather yummy lunch. Unfortunately we will also be missing his daugher, who used to sing with us in the holidays.

Instead of evensong, there was a 'Lighten our Darkness' service, where names of those who had died were read out and candles lit in the shape of a cross - always a moving service. The evocative 'Hail gladdening light' was sung, followed by the anthem 'Litany to the Holy Spirit' (Hurford) - with a beautiful soprano solo first verse.
