The quietest baby in the world was baptised today, at 10.10 (or near thereunto) on 10.10.10. He will be truly blessed. He was serenaded to the strains of 'Cantique de Jean Racine' (Faure), sung in French. It does sound rather like a lullaby. And a jolly Hornpipe by Handel at the end of the service to wake him up in time for the party. The vicar returned, from preaching at the Cathedral, in time for Evensong. But we were excused a sermon as the scheduled preacher didn't turn up. (I am ashamed to say that the choir didn't seem at all upset.) We sang 'Lord I trust thee' (Handel) with gusto, augmented at the last minute by a late-arriving Bass.
