Welcome Return

I feel much better for the break and enjoyed returning to church and choir after the holiday (which included a trip to the Edington Festival, where other choirs did all the hard work!) The first week back was very gentle, singing 'A new commandment' (Aston) at Morning Eucharist. We then went AWOL (this time for a 40th wedding anniversary party) before returning to sing 'O thou who camest' (Stopford) at Eucharist and 'I was glad' (Parry, arr. Trahair) at evensong. The Trahair version is arranged in four parts which made it very strange to sing for those of us used to the full version, but it also makes it accessible for a smaller choir. As it was Festival Evensong, we also sang the Sweeney responses and the Noble in B Minor canticles. Our reader told us after Festival Evensong that the service was 'Fab'. We've never had quite that comment before! We also welcomed a new Bass to the choir. But how come he gets to choose a hymn as soon as he joined? I've been in the choir nearly 15 years and have never had the chance to choose yet....
