The sopranos were down in number today, but sang bravely on, surrounded by sparkly Christmas trees and candlelit choir stalls (for it was the weekend of our Christmas Tree Festival). The morning anthem was a hymn with wonderful harmonies (Jesu, meine Freude - Bach), and, unusually, a responsorial version of the Benedictus instead of a Psalm. The evening festival programme was more demanding: Sweeney responses, Moeran in D, O thou the central Orb (Wood). We really must get more confident at Moeran, but the rest went well.
