We somehow managed to combine 'Christ the King' with St. Cecilia's Day, and a visiting preacher from Inclusive Church talking about being a welcoming, 'yes' community. The children wore bright and shiny homemade crowns and we sang 'King of Glory, King of Peace' (Bach) - confidently, after an intensive pre-service practice in the choir vestry. By contrast, the evening canticles, Moeran in D, were rather under-rehearsed: it was the first time we had sung that particular setting in a service. Fortunately we were rather more familiar with Millington's responses and the Campbell anthem, 'Praise to God in the Highest'.
