Gloria in Excelsis Deo

A busy weekend for the choir, beginning with a very special wedding of two choristers, a soprano to a bass. Several former choristers made the journey back 'home' to sing Vivaldi's 'Gloria' as the bride entered, and Faure's 'Cantique de Jean Racine' during the signing of the register. There followed a choir photo with the happy couple, home-made elderberry cordial, to a special recipe by one of the altos, and lots and lots of good food to the accompaniment of a jazz band late into the evening. Surprisingly, a large number of the choir were still able to stagger to church in the morning for the Eucharist, singing Rutter's 'For the Beauty of the Earth' during the administration. Fewer choristers attended the civic service in the evening, but it didn't matter as the local school Gospel Choir was leading the music. Others of us (ahem) were either collapsing into an exhausted heap, or watching the nail-biting tennis final.
