We attended a marvellous weekend, courtesy of the Friends of Cathedral Music, at Lichfield. Three evensongs, a Eucharist and several Cathedral school concerts, plus some rather delicious food. Cathy Lamb, Philip Scriven, Wealands Bell and Adrian Dorber made up a most inspiring team - unstuffing worship and Cathedral life and making it exciting, no easy task whilst keeping the formal liturgy and musical tradition alive. Musical highlights included a Langlais Mass (not my usual fare, but very well sung), Wesley's 'The Wilderness', a Battle of the Organs, a Latin Compline by Candlelight and a group of young Saturday choristers singing 'The Lord is my Shepherd' (Goodall). I'll definitely put Lichfield on my re-visit list.
