We had a guest speaker today - a retired priest doing reconciliation work in Bosnia and Kosovo. It made us realise what an easy life we have in this country, by comparison. We sang 'Jesu, the very thought of thee' (Victoria) - which went well after a rather wobbly start, followed by a Lent Lunch in the Parish Centre (delicious Country Veg. or Parsnip and Apple soup, with Rustic Rolls) and further food for thought from the speaker. There was just time to pop home before returning for Evensong. 'The Call' by Lloyd sounded wonderful with a strong, confident descant solo - but we were fortunate to have enough people to sing it at all, as only three sopranos turned up. It was good to see several friends in the congregation, who appeared rather good at leaving behind their umbrellas and hats!
