(Many thanks to Mousethief for the title of this entry)

An early start (yawn) this morning, as we had to get our Eucharist over with before the Ecumenical open-air service in the Square. A strange mixture of Pentecost hymns and the usual 'faithfuls' we bring out whenever the Sunday School are in. The kids performed a play with lots of funny one-liners about what the weather was like on the first Pentecost (inc. rude joke about 'wind' - titter, titter) Prayers and Anthem (God is a Spirit) to the unusual accompaniment of loudspeakered drums and electric guitars being tested outside - instruments not often heard second-hand, let alone first-hand in the Parish Church!

By the time the service had finished, all was quiet on the Eastern Front (of the church) as it had started to rain heavily and the louder service organisers had scarpered to the shelter of the Methodist Church.

Time to set the video recorder to 'Songs of Praise' before leaving for Evensong. A much more restful and quiet service compared with this morning - just the right tonic after a busy day. Then home to goggle at ourselves (and 500 others) on the box - one of the better SoP programmes, even if I do say so myself!
