Travelled to Exeter on Saturday for the Friends' Festival in the Cathedral. Cathedral choir (boys and men) sang at the Eucharist, Mozart Spatzenmesse, Mawby Alleluia; just the right amount of incense - atmospheric without being overpowering.

Organ recital by Andrew Millington in the afternoon (Howells, Buxtehude, Brewer, Dickenson, Durufle) followed by tea in a marquee in the Palace grounds. The cathedral was beautifully cool on a hot day, unfortunately the marquee wasn't. But worth suffering for goodies and cakes - and of course a Cream Tea.

Back to my own church for the Ordination to the Priesthood of our curate, by the Bishop of Plymouth. Second Eucharistic service of the day, but it was difficult to realise that as they were so different. Hymns: 'Come down O love divine', O thou who camest from above', 'Come Holy Ghost', 'Just as I am', 'Holy, Holy, Holy'. One of the only times we get to say the Litany (or a shortened version of it) these days.......

Choir were asked to sing TWO anthems - we'll need to go on strike for double pay soon (2x0=???!) 'God so loved the world' and Vivaldi's 'Gloria'.
