End of Term Concert

Went to my eldest son's school end-of-term concert. For boys and girls aged 11-18 it featured the school Swing Band and area schools' Friday Choir. Who says teenagers don't like to sing traditional church music in 4-part harmony? The choir items were: 'I will sing with the Spirit' - Rutter; 'Rejoice and be Glad' - Mendelssohn; Faure's Requiem; 'The Lord is my Shepherd' - Schubert; 'Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring' - Bach; 'Love Divine' - Howard Goodall; 'Blest Pair of Sirens' - Parry; 'Bogoroditsye Dyevo' - Rachmaninov.

All those, together with the 8 items from the Swing Band and a couple of solos, made for a fine and very full performance, from an age group who 'never' sing such stuff (according to propaganda).

Hope they all join choirs when they leave school and continue to sing......
