Percy Whitlock Day

Hooray, the last Sunday before the choir hols - after 48 weeks non-stop we need a break - and it is Percy Whitlock Sunday.

In the morning Eucharist, we sang the Jubilate, and Whitlock's 'Here, O my Lord, we see thee face to face': always a devil to keep in tune with very occasional organ entries, but fortunately we rose to the occasion.

In the afternoon, a rehearsal with the Exon Singers, and then Evensong. So much easier to sing with the support of so many good young singers. Whitlock again, as an Introit: 'Be still, my soul'; Stanford in G with delicious solos intertwined with 4-part harmony; Vaughan Williams' 'Antiphon' - Let all the world in every corner sing'. What a buzz to end our year of music!
