Two very quiet Sundays

Sometimes, in between the highlights, come some very normal days. These last two weeks were like that. Nothing special happened, but we still turned up, we still sang and we still drank coffee.

19th October saw a departure from our usual type of anthem, singing John Bell's 'Take this moment': 'take the little child in me, scared of growing old'. But I'm not old enough yet to be scared of growing old! Still had to sing it though and I hope it didn't scare the congregation too much.....

26th October was another of our double-whammys: a capella 'Teach me O Lord' by Atwood at the Eucharist (a welcome back to our student Bass, home for a half-term break and granny's birthday). A baby started crying during the Eucharist, so the organist worked the lullaby 'Go to sleep' into his extemporisation - and it did the trick!

'How lovely are the Messengers' by Mendelssohn at Evensong - with a much reduced choir, but we never let that stop us :) The service was very gentle, possibly because it was led entirely by women, including preaching and responses.
