Evensong goes mod

It is often a criticism of church choirs that they never sing anything up-to-date. Well that's not always true, as the composer of the anthem at evensong was sitting in a pew listening in - and he wasn't a ghost. The item, which we have been practising for the last few weeks is 'May the peace of God' by L. Mazur-Park, a local musician. And the organ voluntary was quite recently composed too - Fanfare, by Gabriel Jackson.

Just to prove we haven't gone completely modern on an unprepared congregation, however, we stuck to tried and tested ground in the morning, singing Wesley's 'Lead me Lord'. I remember hearing this sung around Wesley's grave by Exeter Cathedral choir. We can't beat that for atmosphere, unfortunately.
