Back again.... for real

Well again, refreshed, and looking forward to the start of a new choral year. Whoever invented August holidays deserves a medal!

The only problem with taking a long holiday, is coming back not sure if you can remember how everything goes! I was very glad we had a quick run-through of the pointing and the tune of the Gospel Acclamations in the vestry beforehand. Pretty much everything else was stored in long-term memory and came back when needed, fortunately.

The anthem was 'View me Lord' by Lloyd, sung very quietly with a small crescendo near the end and then back down to ppp. The choirmaster looked very pleased so I think it must have worked well. It is so hard not to go flat when singing quietly, a capella.

Smiles all round as we processed out to Elgar's 'Pomp and Circumstance' March no. 1 - the response such music inspires in the choir always reminds me of the psalm we sing at evensong (114) "The mountains skipped like rams: and the little hills like young sheep". Whether I could be described as one of the mountains or the little hills I shall leave to your imagination...... ;)
