From the Far Side

A few of the half-termers had struggled back by the weekend, allowing us to sing 'O Lord increase my faith' by Loosemore in the morning, and 'How beautiful upon the mountains' by Stainer at Evensong. I had to sit on the other side of the choir stalls for once and felt very out of place - as if I was wired up back-to-front. Hearing the bass notes sounding in my ear instead of the tenor ones didn't bother me anywhere near so much as trying to remember which way to turn to sing and process.
In the afternoon, I had fun listening to www.surgeradio.co.uk as the two-hour show was presented by one of our choristers. It was very strange to hear him DJing a popular music show instead of singing restful motets and forthright Victorian hymns.....
