Very disturbing...

One more week to go before I start work again in NewHomeTown. It's been lovely to have a few (rather hectic what with moving/unpacking and all that) weeks off though I'm quite looking forward to getting into church and parish life again.
Today some of the last 'sorting out the house' jobs are being done... a Spurs supporter is replacing the damaged shower tray and a West Ham supporter is fitting a couple of internal doors. Of course I greeted them this morning wearing a Spurs shirt... it had to be done. We're settling in very well round here generally, but I'm feeling like I'm in alien territory! Back home in OldHomeTown we were firmly rooted in Spurs territory (hurrah!) - at our nearest big shopping centre there was a Spurs shop, the majority of people (other than the deluded few Arsenal supporters) were Spurs people and you saw a lot of Spurs shirts wandering around (attached to people of course). But here... the local big shopping centre has a West Ham shop (I'm sure TiredandEmotional would be delighted!), we went in a sports shop a couple of days ago and there was a giant West Ham flag on the wall and everyone wanders round in claret and blue - it's very disturbing and it's the thing that's taking the most getting used to (only football fans will understand I'm sure!). But still, this is where the Lord has led us and he must know what he's doing haha! I think a therapeutic visit to White Hart Lane is in order sometime soon (I did check the transport links when I was weighing up whether to apply here!).
I think this is a necessary way to finish this post today...
Glory glory Tottenham Hotspur
Glory glory Tottenham Hotspur
Glory glory Tottenham Hotspur
And the Spurs go marching on.

[A little aside... because dealing with funerals is a part of everyday life, you find yourself planning what you'd like at your own! TeenSon has got used to me randomly stating songs I quite fancy for my funeral and now just raises his eyebrows and says, "Just write it down somewhere!" But I remember deciding one day that I wanted 'Glory glory Alleluia' with alternating verses... Alleluia/Tottenham Hotspur. I hope God won't mind sharing the glory just that once!]
