This morning, I couldn't see how I was going to manage to collect the car from the garage when it was ready, as I expected to be on duty this afternoon from 1:30. I prayed. Just as I arrived at work this morning, my colleague asked for a swap - he wanted to do the 1:30 till 2:00 slot, so that he could get away at 5:00. So I'm covering 5:00 till 5:30, which is a small price to pay for being able to get away at lunchtime to collect the car (which I've done - and, yes, I know it isn't 1:30 yet, so I could have done the original slot, but it would all have been rather rushed, and I couldn't have been sure that I'd make it). I should perhaps explain that there are two of us on the desk from 2:00 till 5:00, and just one for the half hours before and after the main period of duty.
We're planning our summer holiday, and have provisionally booked with Christian Guild Holidays. The wife used to go on holiday with them as a child, when they were called the Methodist Guild, and we've gone several times as a family.
